Current policies are reshaping the research landscape in both direct and indirect ways, with significant implications for libraries and the scholarly communications space. From budgets, indirect costs, scrutiny of collections, and integrity in scholarly publishing, libraries are navigating unprecedented challenges. Yet, their crucial role in creating, validating, and disseminating research endures.
In this time of disruption, our panel will explore how libraries can advance research and expand access to knowledge during a period of crisis. We will share both strategic and tactical approaches, highlighting real-world examples of how institutions have prioritized key initiatives in the face of financial constraints. The discussion will address how libraries can remain aligned with institutional values and priorities, despite austerity. It will also provide actionable insights for supporting ongoing missions, including Open Access to democratize collective knowledge.
