We recently sat down with Adam Dowell, Analytics Expert at Attain Partners, to dive into the robust technology initiatives he contributes to at Attain Partners. With a decade-long journey in leveraging data to drive decision-making, particularly within the domains of government and education, Adam brings a wealth of experience and strategic insight to our team. In his role, he leverages his domain and technical expertise to support our clients seeking to transition to a data-driven decision-making approach through implementation of enterprise executive reporting, analytics, and data management.
Adam is both a fantastic and strategic addition to Attain Partners’ App Modernization and Analytics capability. He brings a decade of reporting and analytics experience supporting government and education stakeholders across DC Public Schools. He’s a terrific asset to the team and continues to make an impact supporting our clients.

Attain Partners (AP): How did you get into your line of work—what started your love for data?
Adam Dowell (AD): For my first job after undergrad, I was a classroom teacher in a high-needs urban district. I was teaching math to at-risk high school students. Data from iterative assessments greatly helped me track my students’ progress and group them for remediation. I later worked for a non-profit recruiting teachers to a principal development program. I similarly found that tracking data for thousands of applicants provided insights and helped me focus my efforts. I also saw that many organizations in the education sector had a difficult time integrating data to their operations and thought this was an avenue where I could have an impact. So, I spent several months teaching myself to code and decided to make that my professional focus.
AP: What did you do before joining Attain Partners?
AD: I was a database architect and data analyst at DC Public Schools. I built internal-facing applications to support the logistics of running a large, urban school district with over 100 schools. I also led reporting for several academic interventions and district-wide programs.
AP: What is the most interesting project you’ve worked on so far here?
AD: I recently completed a project supporting three of Attain Sports’ professional sports teams—the Bowie Baysox, Frederick Keys, and Loudoun United FC. The three teams were using a combined seven applications to conduct their sales and marketing. We consolidated these seven platforms into one modern CRM. In addition to data migration, we worked to standardize reporting and develop a data dictionary across the three teams. I really enjoyed corralling this disparate data into one organized view that helps you learn about a business. It was also very fulfilling to build a useful tool for our front office staff that makes their day-to-day work easier.
AP: What do you think makes our company culture unique?
AD: Folks at Attain are very willing to collaborate across the enterprise and speak transparently about the challenges we face. We also have good diversity of skillsets and experiences. It’s very empowering to take on difficult work when you know there’s competent people you can lean on.
AP: Which of our seven core values speaks to you most?
AD: Invent the Future. There’s an eagerness at Attain to move fast and experiment. Working in a technology-adjacent field, things can change quickly. The invention of LLMs is one of the most exciting developments of my career. I’m glad to work at a company that leans into change and continues to find innovative ways to apply new technologies to add value for our clients. Our experiments aren’t always successful, but they allow us to learn and improve quickly.

AP: What upcoming project/initiative are you most excited about?
AD: Growing the Apps and Analytics team. We have several talented data scientists and engineers joining over the next few months. Continuing to build upon our strong team will enable us to build more comprehensive solutions and accelerate the impact we deliver to clients.
