Co-authorship is essential to research, but incomplete or inaccurate disclosures can create compliance and research security concerns. This panel brings together PI, research administration, and library perspectives to explore how research offices can distinguish routine collaboration from relationships that warrant closer review, even when author identities, affiliations, and collaboration networks are difficult to verify. Panelists will discuss common challenges, including SciENcv errors, evolving foreign component definitions, and publications in predatory or low-quality journals.
The session will also highlight how libraries can help research offices verify author information, map collaboration networks, support faculty disclosures, and build a more practical, evidence-based approach to managing co-authorship risk.
