SRAI Session: HHS Salary Rate Limit Requirements with Gil Tran

Effective October 1, 2024, in the process of updating its HHS Grants Policy Statement for the OMB Uniform Guidance revisions, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) also updated its salary rate limit (SRL) – currently set at $221, 900 – which will apply to both direct and indirect salary for all HHS awards made on or after this date. This marks a significant sift, as the SRL previously applied on to direct salaries. NIH issued a similar policy, detailed in the NIH notice NOT-OD-25-025 (November 14, 2024). The new policy requires immediate action from grantees regarding their indirect cost rates and cash drawdowns.

This webinar will cover the history and background of the SRL, its implications for grantees, and actionable steps to ensure compliance. Attendees will learn how to recompute indirect cost rates, adjust cash drawdowns as needed, and address fixed or provisional rate scenarios. The webinar will also explore the necessary implementation plan and required steps for compliance, and highlight the consequences of non-compliance.

Attendees should have a basic knowledge of the current Uniform Guidance 2 CFR 200, a basic knowledge of the HHS Grant Policy Statement issued on October 1, 2024, and a basic knowledge of the NIH Grant Policy Statement.

Nicole is a Principal at Lewis-Burke Associates LLC specializing in the intersection of health and biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences research.
