Courtney Swaney is a Principal in the Attain Research practice at Attain Partners, bringing 20 years of expertise in research administration within higher education. In her role, she leads the delivery of interim staffing services and grants management consulting projects, focusing on organizational assessments, operational efficiency, and ERP readiness.
Before joining Attain Partners, Courtney served as the Associate Director of Pre-award in the Office of Sponsored Projects at The University of Texas at Austin. There, she held the position of institutional signing official and provided strategic leadership for key functions such as proposal review and submission, award acceptance, contract negotiation, and non-financial post-award administration. Courtney also contributed to various campus committees, including the Classified Research Committee, Institutional Review Board, and Objectivity in Research Committee, and actively participated in several Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) committees. Notably, she co-chaired the FDP Expanded Clearinghouse before transitioning to her role at Attain Partners. Additionally, she recently stepped down after five years of service as a founding member of the NCURA Region V Mustang Mentoring Program Committee.
Courtney is recognized for her expertise in managing sponsored project teams, pre-award administration, policy development, business process reviews, strategic planning, and electronic research administration (eRA). She holds the Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential, is a Prosci Certified Change Management Practitioner, and earned a Master of Public Administration from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Austin. Courtney is also an active member and speaker for NCURA and NCURA Region V.
