HTTP Callouts in Flows: The Ultimate Salesforce Game-Changer

Attain Partners’ Insights from Mid-Atlantic Dreamin’ 2024

Attain Partners recently had the privilege of participating in Mid-Atlantic Dreamin’, a community-led conference for professionals with a passion for the Salesforce platform. During his session, Avash shared groundbreaking insights on Salesforce’s new HTTP Callout feature, discussing how the feature facilities code-free data exchange between Flow Builder and external systems, empowering users to establish direct integrations without developer intervention or reliance on middleware tools. He talked through the functionality of HTTP callout and why we believe it will change the integration landscape. To showcase how this powerful tool can revolutionize organizations’ integration strategies, he demoed the functionality in two exciting ways—external API and Salesforce to Salesforce integration (with no ETL!).

Imagine a scenario where a user enters an incomplete address into a Salesforce screen flow. With Avash’s methodology, an HTTP callout is triggered to the Street Maps API provider. The provider then sends back detailed address information, which is automatically populated within the Salesforce record’s address field. Another compelling demonstration illustrated how HTTP callouts can facilitate the creation of lead records in Salesforce and subsequently generate opportunity records in a different Salesforce organization.
